The kind of world I want to live in

Our world can feel like a confusing place to be a human right now, but good, life-giving kindnesses are still happening all around us. We can all play a role in creating the kind of world we want to live in.

This week, somewhere in our world…

Someone said, ‘I love you, I’m sorry,’ and ‘let’s start again’

Someone made a mud pie, a mistake and a desperate plea

Someone did the dishes, the school run and the hard thing

Someone offered a ride home, a shoulder and an olive branch

Someone held a newborn, a hand and a vigil

Someone built a home, a bridge and a community

Someone chose what’s for dinner, silence and kindness

Someone farewelled being ‘right’, a tidy solution and a loved one

Someone shared a meal, a burden and a grace

Someone found their car keys, time and acceptance

Someone changed their baby, their address and their mind

Someone planted a seed, compassion and extravagant hope

‘It’s time,’ ‘I’m all in,’

‘let it be me.’

Someone told a joke, a story and a truth

Someone created a melody, a moment and a memory

Someone took a bus ride, a chance and responsibility

Someone bandaged a knee, a fear and a broken heart

Someone dismantled Lego, barriers and shame

Someone noticed a glance, a bruise and a possibility

Someone began a job, an adventure and a friendship

Someone received a package, a promise and forgiveness

Someone spilled milk, and tears and quiet courage

Someone started a conversation, a fire and a movement

Someone declared, ‘It’s time,’ ‘I’m all in,’ and ‘let it be me’

Someone whispered, ‘This is the kind of world I want to live in.’
